In my mind there is nothing more frustrating than having to return a child's clothing item for the sake of size -- if I must return something, I'd hope it's solely because the item didn't meet my expectations from a style and quality perspective (either way, it's always frustrating!). My hope is to avoid anyone having to return due to sizing; my goal is to save you time and energy through comprehensive sizing guidance. With that said, European brands generally run a bit smaller than US brands in the children's sector and often operate via a different sizing scale. There are some exceptions to this and we call it out on each product detail page in the description section. Because sizing will vary between brands, please use this chart for directional purposes -- if you have any doubts on sizing, please contact me directly at meghan@beacolette.com with subject line "Sizing Question" as I am deeply familiar with how each brand runs and can ensure you select the best option for the child in question.  European brands typically size like this: newborn or 1month, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month, 18 month, and then 2Y, 3Y, 4Y, 5Y, 6Y, 8Y. Sometimes 2Y and 3Y will be marked as 24M and 36M; however, it is rare to see a European brand carry sizes like 2T and 3T (IF a brand does carry both a 2Y and a 2T, then the 2Y will be a slightly larger size (in both width and length).  When in doubt, we do recommend sizing up -- so if your child is typically a size 3Y, sometimes European brands don't carry a 3, and in that case, we'd recommend taking the 4Y size. Another example is if you're currently buying size 3-6M or 12-18M in US sizing, we'd recommend you take a 6M and 18M in Euro sizes, respectively. In short, we suggest always going with the larger size so that you are able to get more wear out of the item and because of the general slimmer sizing of European brands.
